The fall of Singapore was one of the most disastrous episodes in the story of the British Empire and an 75th anniversary that deserves attention and reflection. The siege of Sevastopol which took place at the same time was seen as a heroic episode by the Soviet union and its successor Russia.

Mungo Melvin, our speaker is one of Britain's leading military thinkers and historians. His military career took him to senior appointments in the development of military doctrine and leadership training. As a military historian , he is best known for his biography of Erich von Manstein the conqueror of Sevastopol. He is currently the President of the British Commission  for Military History.

Our hosts will be the Fusiliers Museum and the event includes a sandwich lunch, a glass of wine and the opportunity to network in the exclusive surroundings of the Fusiliers mess in HM Tower of London.
