Wing Walk Essex April 2015 · 19 April 2015 ·

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Knowing the effects of PD on a previously lively and able lady, I want to help eradicate this awful condition.

Doing a wing walk may sound scary to some people but It's something I have wanted to do since I was 10 and saw the Busby Barclay Babes wing-walking en masse.  However, unlike them, I shall NOT be doing this in a swimsuit!

Being as I am over 65, I had to get the go-ahead from my doctor, but I am not letting age deter me and I hope that I may be able to raise £1000, which is enough money to fund a cutting edge research project for a week.  Anything you feel able to donate would be very much appreciated.

17th April - well it's only two days to go now till my wing-walk and I am looking forward to it and just a tiny bit nervous!   Well it is a long way up.

I just wanted to say thank you everyone for all your support and for getting me up to and beyond my target of £1000.   You can be sure I'll post some photos when I get them so you can be sure I actually did it.

20th April - yesterday I did it!   The hardest bit was getting up on the wing - not easy for a not very nimble short limbed old lady - but with the help of a few strong yoiung men I finally managed it.   It was very cold despite wearing about 7 layers of clothes, but the experience was definitely worth it.   And as of writing this, there is some more money to come so I should be over £1,200 by this evening.

Thanks again for all your support, and a very big thank you to all the people who braved the cold and cloudy morning to come and cheer.  Hope you enjoy the photos.
