Story

Firstly thanks for taking the time out of your day to visit my JustGiving page, and this is why I, 'Flinto'/ Sarah/ Saz/ Flinton/ mate or whatever you call me/ am doing this....

A few years back I stood on the mall in London cheering on the runners as they reached the finish line. One of those runners being my wonderful and inspiring dad, even watching someone achieve something that seems so un-achievable gets anyone excited and emotional. I remember the roar from the crowd that continued for every single runner; and I remember seeing those tired faces hint a smile as they were cheered on to the end. I've never felt so lazy and useless as I stood watching these normal people who had become athletes achieve such a great thing.

So three years on and I've finally decided it's my turn to take on those dreaded 26 miles. I may be a dancer and a personal trainer but let me tell you now I've never ran further than 5k in an organised event. And with the winter months already with us, I can think of nothing worse than getting up an hour or two earlier to go on a run in the dark and cold streets around Magny le Hongre, France.

My dad ran very much in memory of his dad, who had a long and difficult battle with Alzheimer's. And although my dad was the one who got me running I am doing this for a different cause.

I am running for the future generations; for the young people of today who are struggling or who have had hardships already. I am very lucky to have a supportive and caring family around me who have helped me grow into the strong young adult I am now; but other youngsters are not so lucky...

The Children's Society is a charity that helps transforms the lives of vulnerable children in the UK. They tackle child sexual exploitation, neglect, physical and mental traumas. Sadly there are still children in this world that grow up in fear of the people close to them. This charity is working to put an end to this.

Everyone deserves the right to a happy childhood; performing in Disneyland has now only furthered my want to give every single child the opportunity to a happy and comfortable upbringing.

So please please please if you've managed to read this far spare a few penny's, or spare lots and lots of penny's and help me fundraise... And I promise to attempt to throw in a splits or two along the run.

About the charity

We are a national charity working to transform the hopes and happiness of young people facing abuse, exploitation and neglect. We support them through their most serious life challenges and we campaign tirelessly for the big social changes that will improve the lives of those who need hope most.
