Story
During the planning stages of this walk my younger sister, Anna, was diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
As she says: ‘Being told you have a disease is never going to be fun but when you are told it is chronic and incurable it becomes a tougher beast to deal with.
Having just been diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease I’m still trying to figure out how it will affect me day-to-day but I do know that if there was one thing that would make me feel better about it all, it would be knowing that there was a cure.’
Added to this Hannah, a close childhood friend of my other sister, Gabriella, sadly passed away earlier this year, aged just 31, after suffering from an extreme form of Ulcerative Colitis. Like Crohn’s, Colitis is Inflammatory Bowel Disease and again there is currently no cure.
Therefore it made sense to try and raise some funds along the way for research into these diseases so that Anna and other people like her don’t have to put up with it for much longer…
We are hoping to complete the walk in 3 months, averaging 15 miles a day, starting on the 3rd July 2015, right in the middle of a heat wave!
