Story
As I’m sure you are all aware, on April 25, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake tore through central and eastern Nepal, killing more than 8,500 people, injuring over 19,000 and leaving an estimated 2.5 million people homeless. The earthquake was followed by a large number of aftershocks, including one that measured a magnitude of 7.3 on 12 May, which have severely setback the relief effort.
To show our support and to raise money for the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), the Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer Singapore Office will be taking part in an Urban Everest. For more information about the great work that the DEC does, see:
What is an Urban Everest?
Well it’s simple. The world’s highest mountain, Mount Everest, is in Nepal. We also happen to work in quite a tall building. The plan is to walk up the stairs of the Ocean Financial Centre from the 1st to the 42nd floor, as many times cumulatively as it would take to reach the summit of Mount Everest (8,848 metres).
Many thanks
