First of all, thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page!
This June I will be participating in my first ever triathlon in order to help raise money and awareness for the 'Bone Cancer Research trust'.
I will be completing the triathlon in memory of my great friend Alex who sadly lost his battle with cancer in March 2010, aged just 18.
Alex was a truly remarkable young man and a real hero of mine. A fantastically gifted individual who had it all. As much as he was talented academically, he had a real charismatic personality and could make you laugh at any time. Throughout the duration of his illness, Alex never once felt sorry for himself and was determined to fight his illness with everything he had. He battled the illness with fortitude until the very end and always put on a brave face when times were extremely hard. His passion for life was exceptional and Alex is fondly loved and remembered by many as a real hero. After Alex became ill he was passionate about helping to raise money for charities. So far, Alex, his family and friends have raised over £100,000 for cancer charities! The triathlon is an opportunity to help add to this fantastic amount of money raised in memory of Alex.
The triathlon consists of a 1,500m swim, 36.2 Km cycle and a 10Km run.
I aim to complete the triathlon in a respectable time and will be putting in the training to do so.
The Bone Cancer Research Trust is dedicated to saving lives and improving outcomes for people affected by primary bone cancer. Despite being a very small charity we are the leading funders of research into this cruel disease - with more research projects exploring primary bone cancer than any other organisation. In 2017 as part of 'The Biggest Fight Against Bone Cancer - Ever!' we are aiming to raise £1.1million to fuel more research, more information, more awareness, more support and ultimately save more lives! Please support our fight today.
