HELP US HELP OUR ELES
As part of our work here in Thailand, we raise money for our GVI Trust, a completely separate entity to the GVI organisation. The GVI Trust funds go towards transport to the elephant hospital when needed, food supplies for our elephants and similar needs here in Huay Pakoot. However, the most important use for these charitable funds are for 3 of our elephants who are funded for by the Trust.
Lulu, our youngest elephant here at GVI, lives in a herd with her mother and grandmother. They have a beautiful family bond that we would love to keep together so Lulu can grow alongside her family as she learns how to live in the forest from them.
From youngest to oldest, her grandmother, Khum Suk, is also funded by the Trust. As the matriarch of her herd, she keeps her family safe in the forest and guides them to delicious food sources such as their favourite bamboo shoots and often takes them down to the river for a drink and some family fun in the water!
In our other herd, we have Sah Jah, the most beautiful and majestic elephant there is! She acts as a mother figure to two of our young and bouncy juveniles who joined the project in Spring 2016 from tourist camps. They run to Sah Jah for protection when they are scared, for guidance when they are unsure, and for love when they need it. We love seeing this herd grow into a family, despite being unrelated.
In order to keep these 3 elephants with us here in the forest, where they belong, we need your help…
Sponsor the GVI Chiang Mai interns, volunteers, staff and mahouts to stay in the forest for three days and two nights on a survival mission! We will complete challenges in our 3 teams, based around survival skills, teamwork and biodiversity surveying skills and hope to have lots of fun along the way!
Thank you in advance for all your support! :)
