On 23rd March, I will be undertaking a major Charity
Challenge to sled 250km from Norway, into Sweden through untouched nature
driving my own team of Husky dogs across the Arctic.

This is no ordinary charity fund raise – it is regarded as a
tough challenge and one that I have not trained nearly hard enough for! I will
be required to cover up to 60km a day, erect my own tent, cook for myself,
share camping duties and be responsible for my team of huskies in what is
described as a “true, hands-on, wilderness challenge”. I would not be telling
the truth if I didn’t say I am more than a little nervous!

I am covering the entire cost of the trip and all my
expenses personally so every penny you donate will be for Land Aid – the Property Industry charity that exists to provide safe, suitable and affordable accommodation for young people, giving them a brighter future by awarding grants to exceptional small-medium sized charities working with young people who are at risk of becoming homeless, are currently homeless, or have experienced homelessness in the past. The charity funds capital projects which provide much-needed homes for vulnerable young people.

By any stretch, we are all successful individuals and whilst we
may have “made our own luck”, we are nevertheless lucky! When I think of my own
two wonderful boys who are starting out on their life journeys, I know how
grateful I am that they have a secure and loving environment that they will
always be able to rely on no matter what. It is heart breaking to imagine the
life that some young people face who are not so lucky – and over the years I
have met many of them either by stopping to talk on the streets or during my
time as chairman of a homeless charity.
