Granny Runs the World - Solo Europe 2000k Run

Story
To celebrate my 50th birthday this year, on 19th July I will complete a run across Europe from Netherlands to Latvia. Running through Germany to Poland and on to Sweden, then Lithuania, before the entire coast of Latvia to reach Estonia. When I finish 6wks later, I will have completed well over 2000k running solo and unsupported across Europe, wild camping, campsites, hostels and occasional hotel. My bag weight varies from 8kg to 12kg.
Last summer I had a crazy idea to run the world. I didn't have a clue how or when I would do it, but figured it would keep me focused for a bit. I started with a Run to Work, flying from my home in Leeds to Schiphol before running 233k across Netherlands to Germany. A few months later I left Essen and ran west to Eversberg covering 150k in wintery conditions over 4 days. That was the warm up.
I wanted a platform to talk openly about something we don't talk about enough, the fact that over a third of all women suffer domestic abuse - violence from their partner in the home. I'm a survivor and I know how hard it is to talk about and how much it impacts every aspect of your life. We have to stop it. I want to show victims and survivors that there is hope , there is help and they can change their lives, believe it and ask for help - do NOT be ashamed.

I'm dedicating this run to the memory of an amazing man, Will Dimmock who is dearly missed by all of his family and friends. You will never be forgotten Will.
