Story

Filipino dogs are still at risk of being abducted and slaughtered for the dog meat trade.

The Animal Kingdom Foundation (AFK), rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes these once slaughter bound dogs.

AFK needs your help for the upkeep of the dogs, veterinary care and medicine and food for the 117 dogs still in their care.

While they have rescued and rehabilitated more than a thousand dogs to date, they still need a lot of help.

AFK needs your help to rescue more dogs.

AFK needs your help to rehabilitate them.

AFK needs your help to re-home them.

Help us.

I am Greg S. Quimpo and I work for Animal Kingdom Foundation, Inc. (AKF), here in the Philippines.

AKF does thorough investigation on the clandestine activities of the dog traders; we partner with the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) and the local government units (LGUs).

Our rescue and rehabilitation shelter is a leased 2 hectare property. It has been home to more than a thousand rescued dogs, we have been rescuing and rehabilitating dogs since 2006, and have re-homed hundreds of them.

Most of these dogs came from the southern part of the country all recovered while being taken to the illegal slaughterhouses in the north. The horrific conditions that these dogs were in during transit; some expire due to being piled-up on by other restrained dogs, muzzled with strings, tongues swollen and limbs broken, is a sight that as horrible as the stench of death that explodes once the tightly closed vehicles are opened.

Some of the dogs that AKF recovers are pregnant that is why we have puppies, "Miracle Puppies" we call them and they are simply a source of joy for everyone at the center.

There are those who bore the scars caused by open-ended cans, strings and wires stuffed and tied around their snouts. The dead dogs are buried at AKF's pet cemetery while the rehabilitated ones are re-homed.

PLEASE DONATE ANY WAY YOU CAN FOR THE UPKEEP OF THE DOGS AS WE ARE EXPERIENCING A BAD PATCH. IT HAS BECOME DIFFICULT FOR AKF-PHILIPPINES TO GARNER ENOUGH DONATIONS DUE TO OUR PREVIOUS CHARITY DONORS PUTTING THEIR PRIORITIES IN DIFFERENT PROJECTS.

There are so many things we can do and we are happy to tell you that we have had rescue raids this year, 2016, that yield less than 10 slaughter-bound dogs as opposed to the early years wherein we rescue at least 70 live dogs and recover more dead ones  in one raid. This, because we have been relentless in raids and bringing the dog traders to court.

Help us save more dogs.
