Story

Hello

My name is Neil Trebble and i served with the 1st Bn Grenadier Guards from 1987-1993.

Some of the greatest times i had whilst serving was when playing for Bn football team alongside a certain Darren Chant.

Darren went on to become the Regimental Sergeant Major but was sadly killed whilst on active duty in Afghanistan.

Last year myself along with many others managed to raise over £15,000 from a charity football match. The money raised goes to our regiments own charity the Colonels fund which supports the families of those killed in action and the many Grenadiers that have suffered Physical and emotional injuries whilst serving in conflicts since 1990.

On 20th Augsut 2015 myself along with some special Grenadier Friends

Geoff Clampin,
Peter Sergeant,
Jimmy Milidanovic,
Dan Page,
Chris Archer,
Brian Hopgood,
Dave Williams,
Lee Palmer,
Darren Smith
Ben O'Connell
David Claxton

will be cycling from John O Groates on a gruelling 1000 mile journey to Lands End arriving on the 29th.

Each of the riders are paying for for their own expenditure so that all funds raised go to where they are most needed. So far free accommodation has been secured at 2 rugby clubs, a fire station, police station and RAF camp. This event will really be as raw as our backsides

Without coffins draped in union jacks or large scale media coverage quite rightly the public assumes the worst is over but for many the real conflicts have only just begun and for the families of those lost the hurt will never go away.

Thank you for your support

Neil Trebble
