I don’t run. I have never been a runner; I didn’t ever think about running. Then, faced with a potential redundancy situation and a very stressful time all round, I had a choice...I could drown my sorrows in gin, or channel my energies elsewhere. I chose the latter. I decided to try this thing called running! Why? Just because I had to do something and I wanted it to be a constructive something! So after letting out my best kept secret to the amazing Penny at DayOne Wellness, that was it, I had started something I had to see through! I chose to pound the streets and fields, I decided to find comfort and escape in physical activity, I decided to challenge my own perceptions of myself. I decided to take up Penny’s challenge and run, with her help & support of course! Not only that, I decided I had to have a goal, job or no job (I have my job still!) and so, not content with completing my first goal of achieving ‘Couch to 5k’, I had to go further. This is it, a 10K for one of the causes closest to my heart.
I still can’t quite imagine running 10k, and I haven’t got there yet BUT I am absolutely determined to do this! No doubt I will surprise or even shock a few people with this; the girl who doesn’t run is actually running and even enjoying it, what is going on?!
