Thanks for having a nosey at my JustGiving page.

In 2018, my friend Sonya and I came across a baby pigeon drowning in the canal whilst out running. Rescuing him was a joint effort, with Sonya grabbing onto my ankles whilst I dangled down into the canal and fished him out. Although, she did let go of me and nearly dropped me into the canal, so that she could tend to the pigeon once he was safely on the tow path #priorities ! We wrapped him up in my t shirt and a kind man gave us his jumper to keep him warm, as he was shivering badly. To be honest, I think he would have done anything to avoid the topless woman with pigeon accosting him for his possessions further lol. 

We scooped him up, named him Percy and took him to a local vet who advised us to take him to the wildlife hospital. 

When we got there, we were impressed by how friendly and professional the staff were. They took the time to talk to us and tell us about his estimated age and his condition. They really cared about the work they were doing. We were very surprised to discover that they do not receive any government funding and rely on donations. 

They treat all sorts of different wildlife from ducklings to hedgehogs to badgers to owls. And we think that their work is so so valuable. 

You'll be pleased to know that after some time in an incubator, Percy was right as rain and was released. He is now flying free and loving life!

Originally we were running Leicester Marathon 2019 for this great cause, however due to rain...very heavy rain...it was cancelled. Some parts of the course were flooded and we didn't sign up for a triathlon!

So, instead, I am going to run Brighton Marathon 2020 for this excellent charity, in lieu of Leicester 2019 (although perhaps I'll do Leicester 2020 too - no promises!). I am also running my first ultra in Feb 2020.
