Story
The Year 9 Sponsored Sleep-Out for Emmaus is an exciting charity event on the evening of 28th April 2017. Emmaus is an international organisation that gives homeless people a bed to sleep in, a community to live in and job.
The people who go there are given a job helping Emmaus' business which is where they take unwanted pieces of furniture and they refurbish them and sell them in their own stores. I think its a great charity because not only do they give the people a bed, they give them a reason to get out of it.
We will sleep in the open air around my school, The Perse Upper, in order to experience for one night the reality of sleeping on the streets. During the evening there will be a visit from members of Emmaus Cambridge, who will offer support, advice, food, drink and blankets, as they do to rough sleepers around Cambridge. We will also play competitive games to raise money to earn 'money' with which we can buy cardboard and blankets.
