We help families find the strength to face everything cancer throws at them

Story

Ivan's son Seth is my daughter Daisy's unofficial cousin, and our families are part of "the gang" - four families who hang out together a lot, and the children have all grown up together.  When Seth was very poorly with lymphoma earlier this year, he and his family were all so brave.  It was an incredibly worrying time for everyone, with Seth enduring months of pretty horrible treatment. Throughout, he amazed us all with his resilience and bravery.  And so did his Mum, Dad and 3 fab sisters.

The fantastic news is that Seth is now officially in remission. The gang all wanted to do something to raise money for the various charities that helped Seth & co through this worrying time and CLIC Sargent was one of them. Ivan tells me that they were especially brilliant in the early days after Seth's diagnosis, when there was so much for the family to take in. CLIC Sargent’s mission is to change what it means to be diagnosed with cancer when you’re young. The charity provides vital emotional, practical and financial support to young cancer patients and families during and after treatment. I can't even begin to imagine how I'd feel in that situation - so from my perspective it's great to know that there are charities like CLIC Sargent out there, and I'm so pleased to be able to do something very small to give something back to them.

So far this year there have been bake sales, bike rides and abseils (to name a few) and now it's my turn. I have dusted off my 10-year old running shoes and Ivan and I are attempting to do the Great South Run at the end of October. This is a whopping 10 miles (well it sounds like a lot to me) and is going to be a good challenge for us (although nothing compared to what Seth went through).

Ivan and I would be extremely grateful for any donations to help this wonderful charity. If you'd like more information on what has happened to Seth and his family, please read the blog written by Seth's parents, at http://sethsstory.org.uk/blog/
