Those of you who knew Bernie, will remember him as being kind, loyal, full of life and someone who made an impact on everyone who met him whether it was for a few minutes or many years.  He had a passion for motorbikes all his life, was a talented musician, achieving all eight grades in classical guitar, was a member of the local pool team.  However he was remembered by friends and family, the one thing that we all had in common was that he was loved and respected.

He was killed instantly in a motorbike accident at the age of 50 having just been to visit our Mum 20 minutes before.

I want to continue doing something in his memory and this charity seems the right one to raise money for.

I know that doing this in memory will spur me on, I also know that he will be watching over me along with my dear Mum who died  on May 17th 2014.  I miss you both very much xx

My second challenge for 2018 is running the Liverpool Rock and Roll Marathon on 20th May dressed as John Lennon in his Sergeant Pepper outfit complete with glasses and false moustache.

London Marathon completed on 23rd April 2018.  It was the hottest on record at 23.5 degrees c  and made much hotter in fancy dress!!  The witch weighed 4.5 kgs, the wig was hot and itchy and I was wearing three layers. As a result I'm not disappointed in a slower time of 4.53.16, it was a challenge to get round without ditching the witch, the wig or toto in the basket!!!  I ended up, again, with sore legs/arms/back/shoulders/neck and feet but it was worth it :)

London Marathon 2017 completed in 4.12.12!!!  It was hot, pretty cumbersome and I ended up with sore legs, shoulders and arms, BUT it was worth every step and I'm sure Bernie was with me all the way.

In 2013 I did the Smugglers Run, a 24 hour running event over the Purbecks starting at 12pm 31st August - 12pm 1st September 2013, organised by Brutal Events.

In 2014 my challenge was over four weekends and was as follows:

April 13th - The London Marathon (26.2 miles) - completed in 3hours 18minutes and 1 second

April 19th - Compton Downland Challenge (40 miles) - completed in 7 hours 20minutes - 3rd Lady and 1st in my age category

April 26th - Bath Beat (26.2 miles) - pure mud and hills all the way!!!  Completed in 6hours - did get lost several times!!!

May 4th - North Dorset Village Marathon (26.2  miles) - completed in 3hours 26minutes and 29seconds.  1st Lady overall!!!

My challenges for 2015 were the New Forest Triple on March 21st - 22nd organised by raffine.eu.com, the London Marathon on 26th April dressed as Elvis and a 24 hour event in Reading - endure24.co.uk on 13th/14th June 2015.

London Marathon 2015 completed! Dressed as Elvis complete with wig and glasses in 3 hours 29 minutes and 16 seconds.

New Forest triple completed! I ran 50k on the 21st March. I was back on the 22nd at 9.30am to run 20.5 miles followed by 13.3 miles at 2.30pm. 64.5 miles total and 10hrs and 15 minutes running hills and headwinds. It was tough, it was emotional but it was worth it.

My first challenge for 2016 was running the London Marathon dressed as a Knight compete with shield and sword on Sunday 24th April. - completed in 3.48.34!!! Tough but worth it

I ran the Liverpool Marathon on Sunday 29th May 2016 dressed as Elvis. Liverpool marathon completed in 4.12.51 during a mini heatwave!!! The wig, glasses and guitar all stayed on the whole 26.2 miles😁

I took part in Endure24 - a 24 hour challenge completing as many miles as possible from 12.00 on the 11th June until 12.00 on 12th June as my final challenge for 2016.  Completed 60 miles, 30 of those on a torn muscle!!!!  It was worth it though.

London Marathon 2017 completed in 4.12.12!!!  It was hot, pretty cumbersome and I ended up with sore legs, shoulders and arms, BUT it was worth every step and I'm sure Bernie was with me all the way

I was overwhelmed by everyones generosity and the support that I received and decided to continue challenging myself to raise as much as I can.

It will be 6 years on the 5th May 2018 since Bernie died and I miss him every day.

One thing I am sure of is that had he survived the first thing he would have wanted to do was get back on his bike.  The Bike Experience gives riders the means to be able to do that and this is my way of remembering him.

We all miss him

For you Bernie
