Story

Day five completed and the ride over. Its such a great feeling with it all being finished. Was a very difficult five days but im so glad i've completed it. The pain was all worth it! Thank you to everyone who has donated and help me raise such a high total to help SSAFA do what they do best!!

Day four over with. Its been a tough day and very sore on the legs. One more day to go, bring on London and the finish line!

Day 3 completed. Was a long one. 121miles. Really starting to feel it all on my legs. Hope tomorrow is slightly easier.

Day two down. Was a long day today. Hilly to start with then the rain started to get us from half way upto the end!

Day 1 completed! Legs are so sore but its one day less I have to do.

My name is Highlander Craig Paterson.
I was shot in the head whilst serving with 4 Scots, the Royal Regiment of Scotland in Afghanistan last summer.
This has left me with a severe right sided weakness. I underwent treatment in Birmingham and was then moved to a military rehabilitation unit in Surrey. I have come a long way since July last year and have recently moved back home to Inverurie.
Throughout my treatment SSAFA have been there to support me and my family. They provided accommodation which allowed my family to be close to me throughout my time in hospital and rehabilitation, I am so grateful for this.
To thank SSAFA for all their help I have decided to take part in their annual ‘Ride of Britain’.This involves cycling from Edinburgh to London over five days. Due to my injuries I will be completing the cycle ride on an adapted recumbent bike.
