Story

Deepest thanks for visiting my JustGiving page.

I very rarely fundraise. I feel to fundraise too often would dilute the greatest efforts.

My @huntingthirty journey is well documented on Instagram and the website (www.huntingthirty.com), but the challenge here - ‘Lakes In A Day’ on 12th Oct 2019 - is the fiercest to date. 50 miles from the North of Cumbria to Cartmel in the South, over numerous fells totalling 14000ft of ascent.

A large proportion of the experienced athletes who partake in this Ultra, do not finish, which is testament to it’s difficulty. I will be up against the mileage, the terrain, the ascents, the descents, the clock, the weather (often extreme) and my own mind. Live tracking is available so if you’re sadistic, you can monitor me as I wreck myself in the name of personal enlightenment.

I race often (probably too often). But this one is different. I class myself primarily as a road runner, only turning my attention to the hills in a serious way this year. Fell running requires a whole different skill set to road running - I have a lot of work to do in a short space of time. So on this rare occasion, due to the scale of the challenge, I feel justified in fundraising, for a cause which is also close to my heart. A cause which is all too often overlooked and requires much greater awareness - not least because so many people (including hundreds of thousands of children in the UK alone) suffer in silence.

Crohns and Colitis fall under the same ‘autoimmune disease’ umbrella, and are far more common than you may imagine. I was diagnosed in 2017.

It would mean a lot if you could spare just a little donation to help the lives of those children suffering with this incredibly painful - physically and psychologically - and often severe disease. If you aren’t able to spare anything, just reading a little bit about these diseases and telling someone about this page would be contribution in itself.

Each and every pound donated will help someone (most frequently a child) struggling with Crohns or Colitis in the UK - of which there are 300,000! What a difference your contribution would make to those children struggling through their early years

Hopefully we can raise awareness and understanding along the way.

Thank you!
