Tyneside Mind

We provide local mental health services to help people experiencing mental distress

Charity Registration No. 1140856

With Boot the Blues, we are fundraising specifically to save Alnwick Safe Space drop-in service, to allow it to remain functioning for the benefit of my local community which is why every penny and every donation, however small, truly matters.  I used to attend the Safe Space peer support group myself last year during a particularly difficult time with my mental health, and found it invaluable for boosting and sustaining positive mental health. I also attended their Mindfulness group and received wonderful trauma counselling from my local Mind (part of the reVOC project). It would be so sad if we were to lose this vital service because of a lack of pounds and pennies.

Every donation matters.

Accommodation for the two nights is all sorted and the route is planned. We will be starting at Lanercost on Friday 15th September, making our way to the final end point of Chester's Fort on Sunday 17th September, exploring Vindolanda, and also stopping at the iconic Sycamore Gap for a group photo :)

This is an event which is being jointly organised by myself (fundraising volunteer), and Lee (community fundraising coordinator), to ensure everything is all planned out and goes smoothly for maximum enjoyment over the three days :)

Our boot the blues message is mental health matters to every one, and we can all do our bit to promote lives where we are as emotionally fit as we are physically. Mental health issues are not something that just happen to other could be your friends, family or colleagues suffering privately, or even yourself.

There is NO SHAME in needing help and support and seeking it. I want a world to exist where anyone can speak about their mental health openly. Stigma is reducing, and mental health awareness is increasing, helped by fantastic work by the royal family who reminded us it is #oktosay, but we are not quite there yet.

If you are interested in joining the hike, please get in touch. Feel free to email me if you want any further information (

If people want to be involved but don't want to commit to the whole three days walking, flexible options are available. Some people are just tagging along for a day or two and getting involved that way.

First and foremost we want this to be enjoyable, so please get in touch if you want to talk the event options through with me in more detail.

With love and thanks from all of us hiking this event, in advance of your support  x

Imani Summer xXx
