Some of you may be aware this month is 'Baby loss awareness' month and today in particular is infant and pregnancy loss awareness day. Having not been something I've gone through myself I can't begin to imagine the utter heart break and devastation it can bring to a family. From the minute you know you are pregnant you begin to plan your life with that little one and to lose that future you are looking forward to so much is desperately unfair
Sadly ,very recently one of my lovely Squidgers families went through a very difficult time and their beautiful little girl, Emma, was born sleeping. This lovely family have gone to hell and back but have done so with such courage. Nobody should ever have to go through what they have been through and I know sadly they aren't alone.
I approached the family (who wish to remain anonymous ) and asked if they felt we could do something to help remember their beautiful little girl and also raise money to help other families going thorough the same heartache. They were very brave and we have combined forces to raise awareness and hopefully lots of money.
In particular they mentioned the charity 4louis , they work tirelessly to help all those dealing with the loss of a little one . They provide memory boxes for families and to donate to hospitals . One thing in particular they raise money for is a cuddle cot. Also known as a cold cot, this specialised piece of equipment is designed to keep baby cool to allow parents to spend up to 72 hours with baby. They are designed to fit in to a Moses basket to keep the environment homely at such a traumatic time
All their cuddle cots have been donated in memory of babies who's families have raised the funds to cover the cost.
So this is where I'm looking for a little help.
The plan is to run a charity event in the new year. It may be a family day or an evening adult event or possibly both , either way in the hope to raise £1500, to buy a cuddle cot and donate it to a local hospital or hospice in memory of Emma.
Thanks for your time and support . Please share and help us reach our goal to make a traumatic time a little more bearable for those involved.
