Irene was one of the founder members of Sing for Water North, raising money for Wateraid. She spent a lot of her own time organising, rehearsing for and performing with her friends for the charity.

Wateraid work with local partners to provide water, sanitation and hygiene services for the world's poorest and most marginalised people. They also work with governments to develop national strategies to allow these basic but essential services to reach all their citizens.

During her time supporting the charity she sang in many parts of the country, held talks and conferences and was even interviewed for radio on behalf of the charity.
