We fund research into type 1 diabetes to find a cure for type 1 diabetes

Story

My name is Isaac and I am 7 years old. I started fundraising for JDRF when I was 6 because my best friend Fin has type 1 diabetes and I wanted to help him. I have raised over £7,000 so far but there is still no cure yet, and I don't want to stop until they find one so that Fin can be better.

I have decided to do lots of challenges this year instead of just 1 big challenge. Rugby is my favourite thing in the world to do and Fin and I both play for Treorchy under 8s. For my first fundraising challenge I am going to wear a bright pink leotard for all of my games in January, which is going to be really embarrassing! Then in February I am going to shave all of my hair off, even though I love my hair because I wear it like Dan Carter.

In March I will do a sponsored silence from 7am to 7pm (this will be a tough one!!), and in April I will walk the full length of the Rhondda where I live (over 11 miles) in my pink leotard, and if I've raised over £500 by then I will wear a tutu as well!

In May I will not eat any chocolate or doughnuts for the whole month. Doughnuts are my favourite but Mam says that I need to give these up if I want to play for the Ospreys one day anyway! I think it will be hard lasting a whole month but I will do it. In June I will walk up Pen-y-Fan mountain twice in one day, again wearing my pink tutu!

In July I am planning another cycling challenge bigger than last year! I am aiming to cycle the Taff trail from Brecon to Cardiff, and then back to Pontypridd - over 65 miles.

In August and September I have 2 fun challenges lined up, the mini mudder course in Gloucestershire and Iron kids in Tenby.

As well as all of this I will be doing chores for family and friends - for lots of sponsor money of course!

I have also designed my own wristband to raise awareness of type 1 diabetes, so please get in touch if you would like one!

Thank you for reading my page, please will you consider sponsoring me to help raise as much money as possible for Fin and everyone else with type 1 diabetes.
