Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Jack Harper and last year I completed the Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride and cycled back as well. This was a total of more than 126 miles. From this I was able to raise £255 for the Wigan and Leigh Hospice. This year I have decided to go bigger in an attempt to raise more money for the hospice.
On the 8th July I will attempt to run from Manchester to Blackpool. I will run 63 miles (approximately 2 1/2 Marathons) from Manchester to Blackpool and hope to complete this in under 12 hours. To achieve this I will be starting my run at 0400 in the hope of reaching Blackpool before the Wigan and Leigh Hospice stall closes. I will posting updates of my training so everyone can see how I am progressing.
In 2012, our Auntie Chris was in a lot of pain and discomfort after her long battle with breast cancer. At the time I was completing my Phase 1 training at ATC Pirbright and was never able to say goodbye.
Towards the end of our Auntie Chris' life the Hospice staff were able to provide a safe and caring environment when the hospital was unable to provide anything other than the essential levels of care. This was invaluable as it allowed her to die with dignity and gave her a peaceful setting where she could say goodbye to those she loved. This gave comfort to both herself and those who loved her.
We will always be grateful for the care and support the hospice provided and therefore want to raise money to help others that will undoubtedly benefit from their kindness.
