I am challenging myself to complete 850 miles in 2021 by walking, cycling, swimming and running.

I am raising money for a charity that is so personal to me and close to my heart - Kidney research UK.

There are currently 850 million people worldwide living with kidney disease. This is not OK.

I'm joining the fight to help end kidney disease by completing the #850Challenge. I am completing this challenge in memory of my mum, she was a Kidney patient for 15 years and on dialysis for 10 years. This challenge will be tough at times, however I have my mums strength and determination. My mum was always so strong and dealt with the disease always with her head high and a smile on her face.

With kidney disease now being the 10th top cause of death, Kidney Research UK has never been more important. Kidney disease ruins and destroys lives.Treatments are gruelling and relentless; there is no cure.

Kidney disease affects more than your physical health. It impacts your social life, relationships and emotional wellbeing. Imagine visiting the hospital three times a week for a four-hour dialysis session – how would you fit this around work, or looking after children, or going on holiday? Treatments need to be improved to give patients their lives back and ease the struggle in an immensely difficult and challenging time.

Patients living with kidney disease are trapped by the endless cycle of dialysis treatments. Trapped by the side effects of medication. They can’t live a normal life. Research will improve treatments so more kidney patients can walk freely and get on with living a happy life.

Research is key to transforming kidney health and support is crucial to make this happen. 

Although I know I cannot change anything alone, I want to be a part of raising something to help. Any donation at all will help to keep research going and help kidney patients.
