Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
I’m running the Virgin Money London Marathon on 28th April 2019 to raise money for Hospice UK, a charity very close to my heart. My lovely daughter Lizzie is also helping me by walking a marathon! On Wednesday 17th April she walking Marriott's Way which is a 26 mile cycle path in Norwich. She has pledged all of the money she raises to the fund I am raising to Hospice UK!
Several members of our family and friends who have died, benefited from the amazing care offered by the Pilgrim’s Hospice in Canterbury.
Hospice care seeks to improve the quality of life and well-being of children and adults with a terminal illness, helping them live as fully as they can for the precious time they have left. My dear Dad spent his last days in the Pilgrim’s Hospice in Canterbury. I will never forget the support and care provided by the wonderful nurses and staff there. The palliative care they provide seems to be as much about living and appreciating every moment as it is about dying.
But as well as taking care of people's physical needs, they also look after their emotional, spiritual and social needs. Importantly, hospices support carers, family members and close friends, both during a person's illness and during bereavement.
Hospice care is free for everyone, and is provided for however long it is
needed, which could be days, weeks or even months.
The challenge we have set ourselves is to raise £2000, but every £ will make a big difference. Please sponsor us as it will ultimately help to provide care for people who could be close to you.
