Bupa Great Yorkshire Run 2012 · 2 September 2012 ·

The Youth Association works with thousands of young people across Yorkshire, contributing a great deal to their lives. We are developing a reputation for some of the most innovative youth work in our sector, as we grow their aspirations and draw them into challenging and developmental programmes.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit James’s JustGiving page to support my 10k run.

This will be the first time I have ever done anything like this. Therefore I really am going to need all of your support to make this happen! I have chosen The Youth Association, that is to say young people, to be the beneficiaries of my run’s proceeds.

We’re now facing economic troubles and financial turmoil in this country and I know that the charities serving our youth have the toughest of times ahead. These problems could place restrictions on opportunities for young people to contribute to our society and I’m not prepared to let this happen. The youth of today are the adults of tomorrow and recent cuts to youth work is a sign that this is being forgotten.

A good friend of mine works for The Youth Association and he is often telling me of the postive impact that the charity has on young people in West and South Yorkshire. Growing up in Bradford and studying at University in Sheffield I believe it is my turn to try an give something back. This is so that hopefully I can contribute something towards young people having the oppurtuntiy to reach their potential despite today's economic climate.

I see this run as a big challenge for myslef as it will be first time I have ever attempted something like this. Hopefully with your help I can make this the first of many and make serious contribution to such a worthy cause.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to The Youth Association and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity. So please dig deep and donate now.
