At the start of the year I was encouraged to start running with friends and colleagues. Having been through a couple of years where I have been less active than usual, I had mixed emotions about this idea but following the couch to 5k program seemed to work and, although I have struggled, I can now complete a 5K run. Will I be able to run double that by June... let’s hope so!!
The reason I am running the Worthing 10K is in order to raise Money for Friends of Worthing Hospital. I think it is fair to say that those local to Worthing and the surrounding areas have either been in hospital themselves or have had love ones who have. I spent two weeks in hospital in 2017, followed by multiple operations and I have had friends and relatives who have been given wonderful care and treatment there too. Among other things, Friends of Worthing Hospital help with modernising facilities, wards and equipment when the NHS is not able to fund this directly.
Inspired by a friend and colleague of mine, who is also running the Worthing 10K in memory of her father, I thought it was time to give a little back to such a wonderful cause.
