We provide specialist palliative care to people with life limiting illness

Story

As a team, we at Jane Smith Financial Planning, a pretty unfit bunch, have committed to a 1000 mile challenge – 1000 miles over 10 weeks.  It doesn’t matter how we do it, but it’s 1000 miles of activity for the 10 weeks from 18th September.  We’ll be running, cycling, boot-camping, playing tennis, anything that clocks up the activity to help us achieve our target by 26th November.

We’d be grateful for any support you can give. Obviously, moral support and motivation is welcome, but the aim of the game is to raise as much as we can for Willen Hospice, so any monetary donations, however small are truly appreciated.

Anyone who has ever had an experience of having a loved one spend time in a hospice will see the incredible work that they do in supporting
those nearing the end of their lives and their families. To be able to access a service that provides such all encompassing support at a tremendously difficult time seems to me to be absolutely invaluable. Willen Hospice is an amazing charity that deserves any donation you can make.

The hospice’s services are free to those they care for. In order to offer these services, they need to raise 78% of their annual running costs of approximately £4.6 million, that’s £3.6 million every year, or £7 every minute!

Willen Hospice provides specialist end of life care for adults, focusing on four key areas: specialist symptom control, emotional support, spiritual support and care for carers.  Often the most distressing aspect of living with life-limiting illnesses is the types of pain and symptoms which can arise.  Teams of dedicated staff and volunteers can give compassionate, specialist support to patients, and their family members, to help deal with, as they wish to, physical and emotional effects of both their illnesses and treatments.

You can follow our progress on social media (Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter) where you’ll find regular updates on our progress, though
maybe not too many sweaty photos!!
