Talking to a friend recently, I was made aware of the wonderful work that the Isabel Baker Foundation (www.theisabelbakerfoundation.co.uk) carries out. This coincided with an invitation to take part in an English Channel Swim Relay event, which I have accepted, giving me the opportunity to raise funds for such a worthwhile cause.

To need to organise the funeral of one's own child following the catastrophic diagnosis of cancer is unimaginable to me and I so want to help those who find themselves in this unthinkable situation.

The Swim Team, from a Poole based open water swim group known as "Beyond the Blue" (see us on Facebook), have never undertaken a challenge of this magnitude before. We have been training now, since September 2017 in all weathers and seasons, determined to succeed for our chosen charities. The time is approaching fast now, our window is the last week of June. 

The Isabel Baker Foundation are the only UK charity that financially supports bereaved parents of children with cancer. This could be for funeral costs or to allow them a little more time off work to grieve.We also support families of children on treatment and donate money for research.
