Story

It will be 10 years next year since I lost my wonderful Dad to this cruel disease.

If you are raising money for something that means a lot then do something big right?

I have decided to do a wing walk as it is very challenging. I don't even like flying so this is big for me!

My Dad was a very brave man living with MND so I am being brave for him.

MND can't be beaten yet but one day with the right research, hopefully it will be and they will find a cure.

Please help if you can. It will mean a great deal to me, my family and all those who have or will sadly suffer with this disease.

Thank you

Jennie xx

MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. Some people also experience changes to their thinking and behaviour. However, MND affects everyone differently. Not all symptoms will affect everyone, or in the same order. Symptoms also progress at varying speeds, which makes the course of the disease difficult to predict.

MND is life-shortening and there is no cure. Although the disease will progress, symptoms can be managed to help achieve the best possible quality of life.

MND can affect adults of any age, but usually when they are 50 years old or more. The disease is more common in men than women, but this evens out with age.

MND affects up to 5,000 adults in the UK at any one time. This means it is considered a relatively rare disease. As such, general health and social care professionals may not see many cases of MND, so it is important to seek out specialists who do have appropriate experience in its treatment and care. This usually means referral to professionals who are linked to neurological services. For more information, see our pages about What help is available?
