Story

Thanks for visiting my Just Giving page.

High Tide was set up some 6 years ago to provide opportunities for young people living in the Tees Valley to learn about the career opportunities that are available in the region.  It runs many programmes, including work experience; apprenticeship development; accompanied visits to activities outside of the region – all of which have benefitted over 6,000 young people to date.

I know that I ask you annually to make a donation to High Tide on the back of me undertaking the Great North Run.  Indeed this is taking on the elements of becoming a “tradition” – I believe that this is my 5th  Great North Run event for the Charity.   However, this year I am going a little further in my efforts to win your support in that, not only will I be undertaking the Great North Run on the 8th September 2019, but I will also be hoping to complete my third full Iron Man race over the last 12 months in Italy on the 22nd September.  For those of you who don’t know what an Iron Man race comprises it’s a 3.8km open water swim followed by a 180km bike ride and then, to complete, a 42km run.  Each of these legs is done sequentially over anywhere between 8 hours for the elite professionals and 18 hours for the slowest members in the field – hopefully I will be somewhere in between.

As you can imagine getting through these events is super tough. There  is a point at which, no matter how much and hard the training,  your mind inevitably starts to say “just make it stop (please)”.

I have not given way yet and undoubtedly with your support spurring me on I will be sure to give it my very best shot.

Please dig as deep into your pockets as I will be doing into my resolve,

Keep Chasing,

Jerry
