Fundraising for Santa Maria Foundation
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm Jesse Burgess, I'm a Property Developer and Filmmaker based in London, originally from Cambridge. I began running again last summer, after not running much since school (which I left almost 10 years ago!) and I am now apprehensively looking forward to running the London Marathon on April 28th!
I am honoured and excited to be running for the wonderful Santa Maria Foundation. It's a special experience to work with a small charity where you can clearly see the direct result of the donations made.
Personally, I was relatively unaware of how archaically male dominated Colombian society was and how many young girls are suppressed of opportunity and happiness. Santa Maria, although a reasonably small organisation, are giving 103 orphaned, abandoned or abused young girls a much brighter future whilst nurturing talent and independence.
All our donations will be going directly to help the girls as all the operational and admin costs are taken care of by Peter Mowland, one of the founders.
Each £100 raised will put an orphaned or underprivileged girl in safe hands for one month, whilst also providing them with an education in music, arts and English, which in my opinion is money very well spent!
These 26 miles aren't going to be easy but the cause is certainly going to spur me on.
