In June 2017 Jim and his brother-in-law Simon are going to cycle the full length of the country from Lands End in Cornwall to John O'Groats in the North of Scotland. A journey of nearly 1600 km or just under 1000 miles. Both Jim and Simon have  long dreamt of cycling this route but always thought it beyond them but, having being cycling regularly for the past year, they are now confident they can succeed on their adventure. And what better way to celebrate his ambition than to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support at the same time?

We all know people who's life has been affected by cancer in some way or another, either close family relatives, friends or colleagues. When this happens you want to help in whatever way you can but more often than not you can only observe from the "outside" feeling helpless in what you can do. So taking on the LeJog challenge is Jim and Simon's way of trying to help.

They are planning to stay in bed and breakfast accommodation on the way and, with daily distances of around 100 km, they are determined not only to succeed in their challenge but also to enjoy the ride through all the different parts of the UK. It will take 15 days to cover the distance from Lands End to John O' Groats; and then there is the journey home!

Jim and Simon are fully funding the trip themselves so ALL monies donated will go directly to Macmillan Cancer Support to help them in their work against cancer. Please give generously and remember, every £3 donated gets them 1 mile nearer their goal.

To give some indication of how your donation may be spent by Macmillan:

£10 : could keep five typical Macmillan information and support centres stocked with all the information resources they need to support people affected by cancer for an hour.

£27: could pay for a Macmillan nurse for 1 hour, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.

£132: could pay for a Macmillan cancer information and support specialist for a day, so more people would have someone to answer their questions and talk about their concerns.

£350: could pay for a much needed break for someone with cancer and their carer.
