2 years ago, in February 2015 I was diagnosed with an invasive breast cancer and spent the next 8 months getting through an extensive surgery and 16 weeks of chemo followed by just as extensive radiotherapy. I have been declared a cancer survivor, my hair is growing back (YAY!) and while I am now cancer free I appreciate even more the psychological and emotional support I was given during the treatment and after. 

Macmillan Cancer Support funds Macmillan Nurses so that every cancer patient can receive personalised support during the treatment and the research as well as individual experience prove that it makes a world of difference. Their support does not cease when the treatment ends, as for many cancer survivors, myself included, the worst challenge came when the active treatment ended and the new post-cancer identity needed to be found.

The 2016 Cancer Research Winter Run was my way to feel alive again. The 2017 Brighton Half Marathon is now taking it a step further - there really is life after cancer so please dig deep to help the charity that makes it possible for so many. Every pound counts when making cancer a less lonely experience.
