We raise funds for neurorehabilitation to improve the lives of the paralysed.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As some of you may know, in April 2018 I suffered a spinal stroke which paralysed me from the waist down. Whilst in spinal rehab at Stoke Mandeville I heard about Neurokinex, a specialist spinal cord injury rehabilitation facility and charity, and started attending its Gatwick branch in October 2018. I attend for two hours a week, one of which is an electrical muscle stimulation session, while the other focusses on increasing my arm strength and core stability plus improving my balance.

I am now in training for the Superhero Tri on 17 August at Dorney Lake, Windsor thanks to the support of my Neurokinex trainer Rocky. The Superhero Tri is a one of a kind event as it welcomes people with all disabilities. I am doing the Half which is a 400m swim, 10k hand-cycle and 2.5k push. It will be a huge challenge as I've never had a naturally strong upper body and suffered nerve damage to my arms and hands in the run up to the spinal stroke, but I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in while giving back to the Neurokinex charity.
