I am taking on the epic bike ride from London to Paris, covering over 240 miles in just three days!  This may not sound ‘epic’ to others but as I’ve never been further than 5 miles on a bike and I’m terrified of riding in traffic, London to Paris is actually going to prove quite a challenge  for me!

On Christmas Eve 2008 I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
This shouldn’t have been such a shock having previously lost both my mum and my sister to the dreaded C word but then, we never think it will happen to us do we?

Getting back to full fitness has been a bit of a slow job but I’m now feeling ready to take on this challenge and hopefully give something back to help in the future prevention and cure of this terrible disease.

I’m hoping to raise at least £2,000 for the three women’s charities,
Breast Cancer Care, Ovarian Cancer Action and Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust and I will be doing this in honour of my mum Joan Bolton, my sister Lindsay Stewart and my dear friends Alison Mitchell and Barbara Jones who both died recently from breast cancer. The ride will be a challenge both physically and mentally but I will be spurred on by the memory of these wonderful and very special ladies.

If my efforts and the money raised can do anything to help others in the future, then it will be worth every blister, every cramp and every car skimming wobble.
