I have suffered with anxiety for many years and to this day it's my biggest fear as a singer. I never thought I could worry about worry itself, but it's possible! I have suffered loss, self-doubt, low self-esteem, feeling of lack of worth and many other day to day feelings that everyone can relate to. When I came out as gay to my friends and my family, the fear and confusion flowing through my mind was almost unbearable. This is why I'm here. To show anyone that suffers from any spectrum of mental health issues, that you aren't on their own and that it's okay not to feel okay and that you can achieve anything you want and be whoever you want to be. For me it is performing front of stage! My Gran passed away in May this year, and the band I front, Reno & Rome, had a show at a festival in Guildford the same night. I found a way to let the music help me escape and take my mind to wherever she was and celebrate her life and that's why I have recorded this single in her memory. Amongst all the terrible attacks happening across the world and especially in the UK at that time and ongoing around the world, I wanted to provide some awareness for Mind so that people understand that there is always someone you can talk to when you feel like you are struggling on your own. My suffering took over my life for 2 years and it was the scariest period of time I've ever experienced, and without the help of the likes of people at Mind, I would still be in that endless circulated feeling of it never getting better. What better way to help raise awareness for the support system we have than to write a song for Gran, and put it forward in her name to represent all of us and raise money for the various groups and activities in place to give everyone their smiles again.
