I am a doctor and I was diagnosed with advanced, inoperable prostate cancer 6 months ago.   This came as a great shock, and I was helped by prostate cancer UK's specialist nurses and their excellent website.   They also support valuable research into this disease, the commonest cancer in men, affecting 1 in 8 at some time in their lives.

 Since the diagnosis I have had hormone treatment and I have almost completed a course of chemotherapy.   I seem to have tolerated this well, and I'm looking forward to taking part in the March for Men on June 17.
