Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Liz, my wife of 12 years was regrettably diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2016. This is a cruel disease that is a death sentence for 50% of women on diagnosis.
It was a tough time for us: especially having to manage the expectations of our son, then only 6 years old, given the virility and severity of this cancer and the purgatory we existed in awaiting the outcome of the operation.
It was a time of preparing wills and taking our son out of school for a last minute 'holiday' and 'fun' time together. Our thoughts were around creating happy memories for him for what had a distinct probability of being our last holiday as a family and the very real and distinct possibility this would be my wife's last year on this earth.
Eighteen months on I am pleased to say Liz, though carrying her scars, is still very much with us, but she is one of the lucky ones. There are plenty of families whose stories start badly and end in great sorrow.
It is the money you give to sponsor me for the London Marathon that enables the medical research that allowed my wife to survive. The more we can the raise the better we can do to turn the tide of this disease and improves the chances for women and families for the future.
I have committed to raise a minimum of £2500 for Ovarian Cancer Action so please give generously but it would be great to blow this target away!
