We provide care at the hospice and at home to children in the Thames Valley region

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I want to climb to Mount Everest Base Camp to raise as much money for the Helen & Douglas Hospice in Oxford. Helen & Douglas House is a charity-funded hospice that care for children to young adults with life limiting conditions and illnesses. Douglas house cares for young adults, whereas helen house cares for children. My friend, Lauren Tandy, was taken in to Douglas house in  February of last year to be cared for after fighting her battle with cancer.

Helen & Douglas house requires £5.25 million to run every year, only £600,000 of which is funded by the government. The care that Lauren, her family and I all received was amazing. I want to make sure that other people can benefit from the care that we benefited from during our time in the hospice and that anyone that has to go through this terrible, heartbreaking situation does so in the most caring environment, which to me is Helen & Douglas House

The challenge of trekking to base camp is huge, and includes flying to the most dangerous airport in the world, crossing suspension bridges, a severe lack of oxygen (or alcohol), warmth, or meat (apparently there's no maccies in a 100 mile radius, rip).

Anyway, I hope you guys can appreciate how huge this is for me, and I hope you'll give an equally huge amount. Sponsor me!
