We are entering a family team in to this event to raise funds for the Alzheimers Society in memory of David Peter, our beloved father/husband/grandfather/brother/uncle who was diagnosed with Picks Disease, a form of Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2003 when he was just 51 years old!!

His condition deteriorated surprisingly quickly and although he was still physically fit, active and capable, his mental capacity prevented him from so much that we all take for granted. In 2006 he was placed in to a care home. Finding a care home for someone so young physically but so far gone mentally was a real challenge and sadly, we didn't have the best experiences with some homes he was placed into. Thankfully the 4th one he was placed in to was a success and he was well cared for there until January 2014 when he passed away at the age of 61. Last month would have been his 65th birthday.

Dementia doesn't just affect the sufferers memory, it alters their personality, affects their emotions, changes their behaviour and gradually turns them in to a completely different person. This is absolutely heartbreaking for their loved ones, looking at someone you know and love but feeling like it's no longer them inside and worse still having them not recognise you anymore either. It's a slow drawn out grieving process as you lose them a little bit more each and every day. We've all missed out on having this amazing kind funny man in our lives and our children's lives. We're raising money to help other sufferers and loved ones affected by this disease and to improve research into it.

Thank you for your support x
