Ewen was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot when he was about a week old and we were told he'd need open heart surgery within a year.  To say we were terrified would be an understatement.

Check-ups, consultations, and a catheterisation followed the diagnosis until the day of the operation itself at the Brompton.  It was the longest 5 hours of our lives but thanks to the skill, dedication and compassion of all the NHS staff the operation was a great success and we were home and back to normal within a week.  

The aftercare has been fantastic with regular check-ups and more recently a transition to the adult service.  We cannot thank those involved in his care enough. Ewen is now at university and leading a very typical student life!

I am running the Brighton Marathon for The Brompton Fountain charity which raises money to help the children and families receiving treatment there and make their lives a little bit better.
