My Story

The journey into parenthood isn’t easy, and for some it ends far too quickly. The devastating loss of a baby causes unspeakable pain to those affected and is a subject that many find difficult to address. SANDS is the stillbirth and neonatal death charity. They operate throughout the UK, supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby, working to improve the care bereaved parents receive, and promoting research to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.

I last ran the Bath Half in 2015, for a friend who had terminal cancer and has since, sadly passed away. It was a humbling experience and I truly believed that nothing else would compel me to run it again, until now. I was recently asked by my friend, Claire, if I would run with her and a group of others for her daughter, Blue and to support this amazing charity. In truth, I couldn’t feel more honoured to run with such inspiring people and for such an incredible cause! 

This year I run for baby Blue,  baby Jean-Jacques and another very special angel baby, as well as all the other angel babies who are loved, but lost too soon. My heart goes out to anyone who has been affected by bereavement. This is for you too.

This quote, from someone who has shown unbelievable strength, will carry me through to that finish line, even if I have to crawl there!
