Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Growing up in a town on the banks of the River Forth, I have always wondered what it would be like to swim across! I started open water training and events last year within the UK. It's a sport I've had to get used to again - I first took open water lessons when living in Australia 10 years ago and sea swimming in a warm climate is a very different experience to lake/river swimming in a country where a wetsuit is essential.
I originally set out to do the swim 'just because' but it quickly became apparent to me that it was going to take not only physical ability but mental strength to get through. The point half way across when I'm tired but a long way from shore (and in the middle of a shipping lane!) will require all my resilience to stay calm and focused!
