Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page
As some of you will be aware my beautiful friend Laura sadly passed away on the 31st of August 2011 (aged 21) due to a cardiac arrest.
At least 12 young people die every week due to sudden cardiac arrests. 80% of these people have had no symptons and it is only through screening that the condition can be identified.
There is a simple way to diagnose mose cardiac abnormalities. This is by having an ECG (electrocardiogram) test. If any abnormalities are detected an cardioverter-defibrillator can be implanted which can save the persons life.
CRY provides ECG screening throughout England, Wales and NI but they do not have testing facilities in Scotland. My aim is to raise awareness so hopefully one day a screening programme can be brought to Scotland to help save more young peoples lives.
If Laura had been tested she would still be with us today.
My goal is to run the Edinburgh Marathon (26 miles) in May 2012. I want to try to raise £1000 so any donation will be very much appreciated. Thank you, Kayleigh xxx
