We are raising £2.4 million to keep innovative robotic surgery at QA

Story

Paul Tosdevin was a stalwart of Sarisbury Athletic Cricket Club who passed away in April this year. He was a great supporter of the Rocky Appeal during the last few years of his life - for a robot that carries out some surgery at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth. The hospital has had the opportunity to use the robot for less invasive surgery for cancer patients to allow quicker recovery and needs to raise the £2.4 million to retain it.

Paul was a lovely man and was always generous with his words and time. He is sadly missed but this is one way of keeping his memory live. The Thames Path Trail (Putney Bridge to Henley) is 100 kilometres (62 miles) to be walked on the Saturday, through the night to finish some time on Sunday morning.

Please donate what you can.

Update: 100 km completed in 24 hours 31 minutes!

About the charity

The Rocky Appeal is raising £2.4 million to ensure the future of innovative robotic keyhole surgery at QA Hospital. The Da Vinci robot is an incredibly precise way of carrying out keyhole surgery to better treat vulnerable areas of the body, reduce recovery times and cause minimum damage.
