Fundraising for Action Duchenne
Story
Welcome to our fundraising page. Myself, Michelle, Natalie, Shell & Natalie have managed to secure ourselves a place taking part in the Great North run on the 10th September 2017 in Newcastle.
We are raising money for Action Duchenne because one of our closest friends 7 year old son, Ollie , suffers from this condition .
Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is an X-linked recessive form of muscular dystrophy, affecting around 1 in 3,600 boys, which results in muscle degeneration and premature death. The disorder is caused by a mutation in the gene dystrophin.
Ollie is an incredible little boy, with a smile that lights up the room. He has a twin brother called Jack, and both boys as well as their amazing parents face this incredibly difficult journey with such strength, courage and dignity everyday. They face every challenge head on.
Ollie wears his leg braces to help him walk, and at times will have to use a wheelchair, as he gets very tired quickly.
We would like to raise all we can, not just for Ollie but also to raise awareness for all children and their families, for whom this struggle is reality .
We will be organising a fundraiser / disco for children in the local area , including great raffle prizes which we keep you all updated with.
