The 2nd of January marked the start of my 16 week training plan for the London Marathon, which will be the 6th Marathon I’ve taken part in. I was lucky enough to get a place in the London Marathon through a ‘Good for Age’ time I received last year, and I decided it would be the perfect opportunity to raise money for the first time for a charity I truly care about - YoungMinds.

 YoungMinds work towards improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people, and empowering their parents and carers. Unfortunately, there is still a huge stigma around mental health, meaning that children and young people are not getting the support they need. I was shocked to find that half of all lifetime cases of mental illness begin by the early age of 14. These mental health problems can lead to young people being disruptive, difficult, withdrawn and disturbed and it’s vital they are supported and not just ignored or told off. Driven by their experience, YoungMinds create change so that children and young people can cope with life’s adversities, find help when needed and succeed in life.

Mental health problems can take lives and with your kind donations, however big or small, we can help prevent that and make a huge difference. Any donations will be greatly appreciated and of course keep me motivated through my intense training plan! Thank you for your generosity and support.
