Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, I hope I can convince you to care about sharks.
Sharks have been living on our planet for millions of years and are integral to our ocean eco-systems. Thousands of years ago sharks were revered as Gods for their power and abilities as top predators. Now sharks are feared and killed as trophies as a result; as well as for their fins in the Asian markets. Sharks are a favourite animal of mine and I would love to try and alleviate some of the stigma attached to them. Which is why I have decided to swim for sharks. In order to raise awareness for their conservation and to show that they needn't be feared, but respected.
I actually, genuinely have a fear of deep water that I would like to conquer. I am giving myself two weeks from the end of March into April, to make it into the deep end of the pool. Then hopefully also become comfortable in the deep end. I am doing this to show that fears can be gotten over if you just apply a little respect to the situation. A message that I am hoping will come across into peoples attitudes about sharks.
My main goal in doing this is to raise shark awareness, but donations to The Shark Trust are gratefully received. Donations will also give me the extra determination to push on and conquer this fear. Most importantly your donations will go straight into shark conservation. Helping to impose catch limits and research into the life history's of these very under researched group of animals.
