We support people with MS in Kent to help them live a better quality of life.

Story

friend of mine has been suffering with Fibromyalgia, Hypermobility and CSS (Central Sensitivity Syndrome) for as long as I have known her.

In simple terms this means that her body is too floppy and her muscles have to work overtime to keep her person shaped. On top of that her nerves are continually telling her she is in pain even when there is no reason for it.

There is no cure for this condition and so far the medical profession have told us all she can do is take lots of STRONG painkillers, rest frequently and try not to get too over excited.

Oh yeah and the painkillers will eventually destroy your liver.

A while back she heard about a new study carried out in Israel that proved hyperbaric treatment had a positive effect on Fibro sufferers.

It's still early days but we're already seeing benefits. She seems more energetic after her treatment; she is less tender so her Physio can manipulate her more and looking at reducing her painkillers.

It's not a cure but anything that means she has to take less painkillers to live a normal life is worth it.

Around 5% of the UK suffer from Fibromyalgia.

Although I think the Kent MS centre has great potential benefits for Fibro sufferers its primary role is to help those with MS. Last year they provided 4,000 treatment sessions (up to 6 people can be treated at once).

The centre is completely self funded and requires £300,000 per year to operate.

Last year her beloved other half ran 3miles every year to raise money for Kent MS centre, and we also cycle together to get some fresh air.

No I'm not the fastest to run a marathon but biking is something I can do so I set myself the challenge to try and get ready to ride 54miles on the London to Brighton bike ride.

So please fund me and watch a short fat guy ride a bike in the summer for the Kent MS centre
